Congratulations to the Hidden Treasure of Assets Boardgame – Stacy, comment #33 and Jenny Up-the-Hill, #24

The Hidden Treasure of Assets is a game that teaches the 40 Developmental Assets and the consequences of risky behaviors in a fun, easy-to-use, board game format. My husband and I invented this game and have distributed it internationally since 2001. It’s so rewarding to facilitate this game with students, or to listen to the parents and educators who use it to generate discussion with kids. It’s really fun, and sends powerful messages at the same time.

If you’d like to be considered for the contest, please click over to the website and read the sample game cards. There are two links to the left of the game photo. Then come back here and leave a comment describing your favorite sample card. You can participate even if you don’t have a blog. Just make sure you leave a working email when you leave your comment. I’ll choose the winner at random after 9 p.m. CST on Friday, April 25. Thanks for participating!

The editor for our county-wide Family First newspaper asked to to do a feature article on Darla’s BookWorm Wednesday. The paper comes out in May, so I’ll update you after it’s published. It was so fun to listen to my 11-year-old respond to the editor’s interview questions. She’s so confident and knowledgeable about it — truly in her element.

Between 9-15 children have continued to meet on a regular basis all year long, despite the fact that initially, neither my husband nor I thought it was a viable project. She fully plans to continue the weekly gatherings next fall after summer vacation, and she even hopes to create a curriculum of sorts, while she’s on summer break.

She could be the poster child for my book. Maybe she could do a book tour for me?

Thank you to those of you who have used our Amazon searchbox and other links to support Darla’s efforts! This small, but steady budget has allowed her to be creative with crafts that reinforce the book themes she’s chosen.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to participate in Pensieve’s Poetic License, but I couldn’t pass up the Haiku challenge! Only in places like Wisconsin can one write about an April blizzard.
