Thanks so much to the hundreds of you who participated in the giveaways this week here at Pass the Torch, as well as the businesses who donated their excellent products!
Congratulations to the Hidden Treasure of Assets Boardgame – Stacy, comment #33 and Jenny Up-the-Hill, #24
The Hidden Treasure of Assets is a game that teaches the 40 Developmental Assets and the consequences of risky behaviors in a fun, easy-to-use, board game format. My husband and I invented this game and have distributed it internationally since 2001. It’s so rewarding to facilitate this game with students, or to listen to the parents and educators who use it to generate discussion with kids. It’s really fun, and sends powerful messages at the same time.
If you’d like to be considered for the contest, please click over to the website and read the sample game cards. There are two links to the left of the game photo. Then come back here and leave a comment describing your favorite sample card. You can participate even if you don’t have a blog. Just make sure you leave a working email when you leave your comment. I’ll choose the winner at random after 9 p.m. CST on Friday, April 25. Thanks for participating!
I host regular giveaways for parents and educators. Please consider signing up for updates by email or feed. I will never spam you or give out your address.
Please check out our other current giveaways here and here.

This would be a great game to use with my church youth group! What a good idea. I like the integrity card that asks if the player feels strongly about an issue and has ever spoken out about it. This is a great way to get teens thinking about important issues and to build their self-esteem.
10:48 am
I like the integrity card. It is important that we teach our kids that it’s ok to speak out when something bothers them or s on their mind.
11:23 am
I like the Financial Aid card in the Grade 7-12. I work at a college and know new students need help to navigate the admissions and financial aid process.
8:20 pm
What a wonderful game idea you have! This could be utilized in our home or in the Junior High Sunday School class. I like the
Grades 7-12 Level II cards. Please enter me in your game drawing. I appreciate it. Thanks,Cindi
10:01 pm
I think the card about laughing at an offensive joke even though you didn’t agree with it would be a great discussion starter.
10:27 pm
I liked the card that described a situation where the player picked on a boy because he was different, and in the game you would have to take 3 steps back or something. It teaches kids that you have to be accepting of others. Great giveaway, thanks!
10:47 pm
I liked the integrity card…any way to help get the message across to our kids is a good idea!
10:48 pm
I liked the conflict resolution card for the older kids and the helmet one for the younger. If I were to win I could make better use of the younger set at tis time. Great idea and good work in following it through.
12:17 am
Your best friend chose to walk away from a stranger.
1:17 am
Oh, I like this game.
I liked the “You & your friend worked together to understand your social studies homework” from grades 3-6. Thanks for the chance to win this.

7:30 am
The card where they would lose tokens for slacking off. Great lesson to be learned!
9:30 am
Though I am a mommy blogger I am also actively involved (as a volunteer) in a youth drug prevention organization here in my community. They run summer leadership camps as well as working with an ongoing group of high school students. I have been looking at this game for a while now, because we use the 40 D.A. all of the time in what we do and are trying to become research-based. Anyway, if I won this, I would donate it to the local organization for them to use with the awesome youth that they work with — I think it would be a wonderful way to “give back”.
Oh, and my personal favorite is the one about attending a financial aid seminar with parents to learn about applying for financial aid. It is never too early to learn about financial responsibility because I was completely clueless when I went to college and suffered due to my “trial by fire” experience. That’s a great lesson to be learned!
Whew! Sorry about the long comment — I’m just so excited about this wonderful giveaway!
12:01 pm
My favorite card is in Grade 7-12 and is the Integrity card.
12:45 pm
I like the 7-12 Integrity card: “Thing of an issue you have strong feeling about- something that bothers you. Have you ever felt like speaking out about it? What would you say?”
Great opportunity for family discussion!

Thanks for the neat giveaway. I’ve made board games for our own use…they take a lot of time to plan and produce so I’m impressed that you all have put this board game together and are selling it! Very neat!
7:10 pm

I like the card Name one adult who cares about you! Neat game!!
9:35 am
I like the “caught smoking in your room” card from the up to 6th grade set. I have two children (grade 3 and grade 5). My daughter won the school’s essay contest for their D.A.R.E program and she wrote all about the dangers of smoking and drugs. I would like to think she fully knows the ramifications of smoking.
This is an OUTSTANDING game!!!! I have your site bookmarked.
10:27 am

I love the card where “you and a partner slacked off.” Not only is the person with the card penalized, but also an unsuspecting player. This card reminds me that in life things aren’t always fair. Also, it affirms that who we decide to “partner” with truly is crucial to our success!
9:36 pm
Great cards! Especially the one where the partners are punished for “slacking off.” Sometimes life just isn’t fair, and sometimes our partners determine our destiny!
10:57 pm
a very good game
I liked the card where the child has to name some one who loves tham

7:41 pm
I like the financial aid card. I have twins looking at colleges and that is right up our alley at this time!
9:24 pm
You and your friend slack off on the career unit because you don’t think it will affect your grade. I snicker to myself as I read this, as one of the children in my daughter’s language arts group phones tonight, because he is running behind on his part of the project that is due tomorrow! Thanks for the chance, I don’t know if both sets of cards come with the game, but if not and I happen to win, I’d like the 7-12 grade version.
10:17 pm
That is such a great game! I like the describe your proudest moment.
11:08 pm
Where was this game when I was growing up? Great idea!

7:58 am
I really liked all of the cards, but one of my favorites was the 7-12 personal power card: “Who influences your decisions? Who do YOU influence?”
9:34 am
I liked the card about the offensive joke and laughing about it. It would be wonderful if our children could have the strength of integrity not to “go along with the crowd” on things like that (and other things also of course!)
I only read the 3rd grade cards since my girls are from 2nd grade and younger…but later I want to go back and read the rest!
Fun and Empowering Game! Way cool!
9:40 am
‘Name one adult that cares about you’.

8:05 pm
This looks like a great game, I like the cards about integrity.
8:49 pm
That’s a great game! I liked the card about integrity–I think kids (and adults) need all the encouragement they can get to speak up when there’s something important to say. It’s much easier to stay quiet sometimes, but it isn’t always the right thing to do.
10:26 pm
I like your 3-6 cards. They really need to learn about this early in life not just when the teens hit.
2:35 pm
If I got it right, I like the decision influence card.
5:53 pm
I love this game! I have two step daughters (one of them pre-teen). This would be perfect for opening up the lines of communication. I love the smoking card. It requires you to promise to never smoke or give up a healthly pawn for one with black lungs.
10:17 pm
“Name one adult who cares about you”.
This looks like an interesting game.
11:02 pm
I like the integrity card, about something you feel strongly about and what would you say. I’ve never heard of this game before! I’d love to win!
