I’ve dodged technical land mines for a month.

Okay, not so much dodged, as hopped from one to another like a frantic amphibian on Frogger.

First my business computer crashed. Error message. Blue screen. Automatic shutoff. Yeah, about that backup…

While I stressed about my excellent computer guy’s ability to retrieve my Quickbooks, writing files and bazillion business email addresses, new technical issues continually pelted me. My cell phone stopped receiving data transmissions. My router called it quits. My husband’s car just turned off while he was driving. Pass the Torch went down for a day. My phone and computer at school had no connection.

My internet provider was bought out by another company, and during the server switch, my business emails stopped coming. Completely. That was February 27, and I am still not receiving my business emails.

Then three days after getting my business computer back, with a shiny new hard drive, an automatic external backup system and most of my files, it crashed again.

If you’ve read The Secret, or Karen Lynch’s blog, you probably know where I’m going with this. I may have brought this onto myself. The Law of Attraction basically states that what we focus on is what happens in our lives. Since I’ve used every spare atom in my body to stress about technical glitches, it’s possible I’ve turned into one gigantic cow magnet for exactly those problems.

SO.

Tomorrow our spring break begins. I still have no business email. I still have no business computer. But I’ve already done all I can do to fix that. I’ve routed my communication through my Yahoo account and found ways to bypass my business computer. Both situations are in the hands of those who can take care of the issue. And if, by the end of break, my problems aren’t rectified, then I guess I’ll need to switch gears.

In the meantime, I plan to play games at the cabin, hang out with my kids, work on a new book proposal with my cousin, spend Easter with family, make a few phone calls and finish reading the book I started 2 1/2 months ago on the plane home from Florida.

And just maybe I’ll reverse the polarity on this attraction problem. What do you do to center yourself?
