When we vacationed at Sanibel Island, we took a day trip to the Everglades, and walked on boardwalks back into the swamp. Big Cypress Bend is just a short drive from Naples, and highway 41 offers several spots to park and watch the wildlife.
We saw this Spanish moss from Kirby Shorter boardwalk, as we walked a mile or so back on boardwalks built through the Cypress trees.
The boardwalk led to swamps with alligators, egrets and blue herons in their natural habitat, even in the dormant winter season.
At one of the waysides, rangers are available to talk to you about the wildlife and nature you find in the Everglades. Oh yeah, and there were a couple dozen gators.
As big as our car.

I’m impressed. You got a chance to photo a live alligator; in the wild at that. Awesome trip you took. Thanks for sharing.

“…here comes the lady with the alligator purse.”
I have no idea what that poem is about that we chanted as kids, but I thought of that.
I bet that would be a great bird watching paradise.
