We charted a fishing boat near Captiva Island, and our excellent captain, Randy, must also be a dolphin-whisperer because when I pointed out some dolphins I saw in the distance, they came right up behind us and started surfing in the wake.
I’m not sure if there were two or three, but they were having so much fun – Captain Randy just kept a steady speed while they went back and forth behind the boat, surfing one wake and then the other.
You can see how close the dolphins were in the photos below.
Beautiful, aren’t they? It made me think about our incredible whale-watching adventure in Boston last summer.

I love these pictures..they remind me of being on the ocean when I was a little girl…We had a pod join us while we were boating, and I was in the middle of being sick over the edge..so I got a real close up view…LOL! I stopped throwing up though…I even got to touch one!
