During our stay on Sanibel Island, we decided to rent a surrey. It’s a four-wheeled pedaled vehicle of sorts. If you look carefully in the photo, you’ll see neither of the adults in the family are seated behind the wheel.
The wide bicycle paths cater to families that flock to Sanibel Island, so our inexperienced drivers managed the ponderous surrey pretty well. But the grown-up “motors” were completely worn out after 45 minutes pedaling the beast and constantly shrieking, “Watch out!”
And as is evidenced by the wide grins and constant vying for the steering spot, the kids didn’t enjoy it at all;)
Sometimes passing the torch is taking the risk you might crash into unsuspecting bicyclists. It’s repeating reminders and crossing your fingers a lot.
And it generates a lot of laughter.
