Yesterday, I wrote about Darlas’ fun BookWorm Wednesday activity she did for Halloween. Today, I’ll tell you how she made her potion. It was based on science experiments we did last year during our Homeschool Experiment.

She raided our spice cabinet and found anything that looked like something else: Whole black peppers became “fly eyeballs”, a bay leaf became “witch plant”, garlic powder became “ground dragon claws”. These innocuous ingredients were just fun items to pour into the “potion”. Any spices would do.The important ingredients were baking soda (”unicorn dandruff”) and vinegar she’d dyed with red food coloring (”ogre blood”).

After the children had added all the other ingredients, Darla added the one that would make the potion bubble - the vinegar. We remembered afterward that dish soap (”werewolf snot”) would have made it bubble even more. Worked for us!
