I’ve been meaning to share with you the fun activity Darla and her co-founders organized for BookWorm Wednesday on Halloween. She hosted a spooky-themed gathering, invited the participants to dress up if they wanted to, and read a funny book about a witch’s potion.
Then she asked the kids to help her concoct a spooky potion (here’s the procedure and ingredient list) before reading the rest of the book. She had something for every child to add to the mixture.
She put it in the (cold) oven and pretended to cook it while they finished the book downstairs. My job was to switch the potion crock, with a crock full of cupcakes she’d prepared earlier.
When the kids came back upstairs they were so surprised! Then they got to frost and decorate the cupcakes.
What’s amazing is that I really had nothing to do with the whole activity. Sometimes I feel the best way I can help Darla, is to just get out of her way.
