WINNER IS KALEB HALL (#129) - CONGRATULATIONS! Thanks to all who played along (and thanks random.org for your random integer generator!)
Shannon at Bloggy Giveaways is hosting a giveaway link-fest, and I’m giving away a Career Expedition boardgame, produced by my company - Empowering Youth, Inc.
Career Expedition is a fun and interactive board game that generates a discussion about career decision-making. The perfect tool for school counselors, teachers, homeschoolers and parents, Career Expedition is the game you will use to encourage youth to discover keys to their personal career planning process.
Players read realistic examples of choices young people make during the career preparation process, as well as cards which guide players through their personal career planning process. It’s ideal for students in 6th-12th grades.
To be included in the drawing, please just click over to the Career Expedition boardgame page on my company site and click on the “sample cards” links next to the photo. Then come back here and tell me which cards you liked the best. You can participate even if you don’t have a blog. Just make sure you leave a working email when you leave your comment. A winner will be chosen at random on Friday, November 2. Thanks for participating!

Great game! I really liked the card where you and a friend loose tokens for slacking!

I think the part about asking kids how they would spend their days…really getting them to think about what floats their boat!

[…] Career Expedition boardgame giveaway! […]
12:05 pm
I like the interest card about what you would do with your day. I didn’t have much career guidance as a child. As a homeschooler, I hope to help my children focus on their likes and abilities when they are thinking about future careers. This would make an awesome Christmas gift!
2:08 pm
What a great way to get them thinking about their future. I have six kids - two are teens.
I’d love to have this game. My favorite cards were the one about the interests and the slacker one.

Hi! I like this card: “If you could choose how you would spend a day, would you choose to go to a friend’s house, surf the internet or create something?” and this card: “You and your friend slack off on the career unit because you don’t think it will effect your grade much.” I like these because they represent something that I think kids really need to consider when making wise choices.
Thanks for hosting this contest!
p.s. when emailing, please remove ‘NOSPAM’ from my email address before sending. thanks!

What an amazing game! And I KNOW you said go look at the Career Expedition Game (which both sets of cards are great), but I peeked at the Hidden Treasure of Assets game, since my kids are younger. I KNOW the age on it says 3-6 grade, but I really think something like this would be GREAT for preschoolers-K. You are doing a GREAT thing with these games!

I like how this teaches about different kinds of colleges and encourages kids to learn about what they want to do. Oh, and come over for my mary kay giveaway too!
1:44 pm
I like the “early deadline” card because I am such a procrastinator. My high school guidance counselor had to drive my application to the college because I had put it off for so long. I hope to raise my children to be more proactive than I was.
6:00 pm
I loved the question about how to spend their days. Great one!!

7:36 pm
I like the slacking and procrastinating cards!
Cool game!
8:22 pm
I like the Discovery cards as they actually lend toward introspection and interaction.
8:57 pm
I’d have to say the question about how you’d spend your day b/c they say that you if you do what you really love, you won’t ever really work a day in your life. Wish I could get there!!
10:32 pm
I would be thankful to have it.
6:41 am
I love that the questions really make them think beyond the “what do you want to be when you grow up?” standard. I particularly liked giving them three choices as to how they’d spend their day.
I don’t yet have teenagers in my family, but I teach a teen class at church and this would be a great discussion tool for them!
