Don’t forget about SCHOOLYEAR’s RESOLUTIONS on Thursday, September 6!
It’s 7:25. You’re on the school bus.
You’re not my responsibility today.
Except for a few random overnights with Grandma, you’ve been my responsibility every hour of every day since last October.
It’s not like I have nothing to do today. There’s the ongoing “move” to-do list, and my new job. But I don’t work Mondays, so I’m taking a moment to ponder yet another milestone (I’ve had a few in the past couple of weeks.)
Are you laughing, like you were at the bus stop?
Are you seated with your new neighbor friends?
Are you chatting up a storm about teachers and children and playground equipment?
Or are you cautiously anticipating the day, listening into conversations to glimpse the experiences this school will bring? Are you nervous?
I can only hope that we made the right decision last year, and did so again today. I can only hope that you’ll be happy.
Now it’s 8:05.
You’re probably at school.
You look so sharp in your new school clothes. So confident. So grown up.
Have a great first day at your new school.
Love,
Mom
UPDATE: It was a good day!

First day of school and I still have mixed feelings. I hope they find their friends at lunch and on the playground. I hope their teachers are nice. I hope they don’t fight too much when I pick them up. : )

Aw, Kelly. I can’t even imagine. I keep thinking about how hard the decisions seem now with mine both under 4…but I can’t imagine (and don’t want to think about it since it’ll scare me! LOL) what making decisions when they’re older will be like. Sending hugs your way…
2:40 pm
It must be so hard to let them go alone. Let us know how the first day of school went!

On the School Bus…
A mother’s “in real time” thoughts after she sends her kids to a new school for the first time.
10:26 am
My kids go back on Sept. 4 (4 more sleeps)
I’m sooo ready for them to go, but also kind of nervous. It’s a new school for them, and so getting into that new groove will be tough for both the boys and myself.
Great Post.

[...] I always love looking at other people’s blogs. I think they way they look at life and the way they handle their problems can help me too. Take a look at these blogs! Come with this mom as she sends her kids to school on the bus. It’s a moving thing to read! When it comes to Parenting it’s a hard job! What are ways that we can survive this crazy time? Yay! I’m glad it was a good day. Your kids are lucky to have a mom who cares about them so much!

I felt the same way with my first daughter (who is now 7 and entering second grade). I actually cried the first time she rode the bus for a field trip.
With my second daughter it was a different story. I was asking WHEN the first field trip was.
My third daughter isn’t old enough to start school yet (she’s 2) but I’m working on potty training so she can start pre-school next year.
Funny what time and perspective will do to your outlook, isn’t it?
