We’re moving.
We’ve been moving for about a month, ever since I mentioned it here.
My mom would say we’ve been moving ever since we got married.
Every time we move, I wonder why anyone who has ever moved, would ever do so again. This has been my “to-do” list over the past few weeks. I’ve crossed out the completed tasks:
Arrange garbage pick-up.
Decide on land-line or cellular.
Arrange utilities.
Hire a plumber to fix broken pipes.
Switch internet and forward business email to new account.
Paint every wall in the house.
Mow two yards.
Furnish the house.
Get a washing machine.
Jackhammer the sidewalk and repour cement.
Begin C’s soccer practice.
Take D to birthday slumber party with new neighbor.
Install mailbox.
Install window shades (in town there are rules;))
Organize a family half-birthday party for our kids the weekend before we move. (Are we nuts?)
Buy D a bed.
Install the microwave.
Learn a new job.
Meet the kids’ new teachers.
Start school Monday (yeah, that means in two days.)
Clean up fallen-tree debris from a huge storm.
Buy all the stuff we keep realizing we need there — clock, shavers, food.
Arrange for voice and guitar lessons.
Move the business computer and retail inventory.
Move the cat.
Once the cat box is moved, we’re officially new residents.
UPDATE: THE CAT BOX HAS BEEN MOVED.

Oh, dear….
Moving is one of my LEAST favorite things to do…email your new address to me and I’ll mail ya something for a little “welcome to your new home”
.
Hang in there…!

I feel your pain. We are unpacking after a move that took more than two months. We began it on June 23rd and moved in to our new home in early August… and are still unpacking. What is depressing is that even after the move is made, that is only half of the work! Then there will be a to-do list on the OTHER side.
I guess that is the name of the game. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I’m sure you already knew this! Being our 21st or 2nd move in 14.5 years, we are old hats… but it NEVER gets easier. In fact, I think it gets harder each time (especially if you do it mostly by yourself). Thank the Lord for good church friends with trailers and pizza.

Ug…I HATE moving and your list brings back so many memories from our move last summer. I’ve learned to never say never, so I’ll just say I’m hoping that if we ever move again we have so much money that I can pay someone else to deal with all of it! LOL I can’t wait to see and hear about your new place and the transition!!
Hugs,
Holly

I hope all is going well.
Good luck!

Well, from the looks of your list, you have gotten A LOT done. Moving sucks, but it sounds like you are doing very well with it. Good luck on the rest

I’ve moved only 4 times in my life and I never want to do it again. It’s amazing the things you can accumulate over the years! Good Luck!

I haven’t moved in 28 years, and thats just from my chair in front of the computer.

Another great idea for a to do list is a Selling Your Home list. Nice list though.

[...] It’s not like I have nothing to do today. There’s the ongoing “move” to-do list, and my new job. But I don’t work Mondays, so I’m taking a moment to ponder yet another milestone (I’ve had a few in the past couple of weeks.) [...]

[...] I would never have guessed that goals set in August could fail just as readily as those declared in January. But I also couldn’t predict that the next twelve months of my life would include a Homeschool Experiment, a book deal, a move, and a new job. [...]
