READ AND SHARE YOUR RESOLUTIONS OVER HERE.

Almost exactly 52 weeks ago, I was preparing to say “good-bye” to summer, send my kids to a new school, and hunker down on some self-improvement goals for myself. I called them “School Year’s Resolutions.”
I would never have guessed that goals set in August could fail just as readily as those declared in January. But I also couldn’t predict that the next twelve months of my life would include a Homeschool Experiment, a book deal, a move, and a new job.
Which brings us back to once again preparing to say “good-bye” to summer and sending my kids to a new school. Is there an echo in here? I guess anything worth doing is worth doing twice;)
Despite my utter and complete failure in the three brief goals I set for myself last year, I’m willing to try again. Most US schools are back in session after Labor Day. Will you join me?
I’m hosting a School Year’s RESOLUTIONS carnival Thursday, September 6, and I invite you all to join in. Just write your personal goals for the school year, link to this post so others know how to participate, and next Thursday, September 6, I’ll share my goals and invite you to share your links.
Feel free to use the banner above and tell your readers about the project. I hope you’ll join me! What a better way to commit to some goals and gain inspiration from each other?

Yesterday I asked you to identify a photo. Your guesses were great (be sure to go read them!) but Sandy Carlson got it right. It’s a thatched roof at Plimoth Plantation — I took the photo while looking up, under the doorway. You can see one such roof in the background of this photo:

We purchased a family membership to the Science Museum of Minnesota this year, after we started the homeschool experiment. It was well-worth the $95 fee. One of our favorite parts of the museum is Collector’s Corner, a club where kids can bring in the interesting things they’ve found in nature. They earn points by bringing rocks, shells, snakeskins and fossils.

Don’t forget about SCHOOLYEAR’s RESOLUTIONS on Thursday, September 6!
It’s 7:25. You’re on the school bus.
You’re not my responsibility today.
Except for a few random overnights with Grandma, you’ve been my responsibility every hour of every day since last October.
It’s not like I have nothing to do today. There’s the ongoing “move” to-do list, and my new job. But I don’t work Mondays, so I’m taking a moment to ponder yet another milestone (I’ve had a few in the past couple of weeks.)
