My daughter’s outstanding best friend — the kind you want to adopt and whose spirit you hope will rub off on your kids — invited D to make treats for the firefighters at their recent meeting. Her dad is one of the firefighters in our town and this was a token of their appreciation for the efforts all the firefighters make to keep our residents safe.
The local newspaper caught D and her friend doing this good deed, and their photo made it into the newspaper. It’s so nice when the community recognizes kids doing good things. It’s almost a self-fulfilling prophecy, don’t you think?

You can pass the torch every week, by sharing simple and stupendous times kids make us proud, as well as the ways we see adults passing the torch. Just blog a story or share it in comments. My comment plugin will leave your link automatically. Former PTT posts. Complete Guidelines.

Hey D… my hubby is a retired firefighter. I do remember the times I made pie or cake and took to the station with ice-cream. How those guys loved it.
I’ve not made any treats in the past few years. You have inspired me to make something soon and go visit them with something special.
Now I really have to say firefighters… because there are women on the force

[…] Last month, my daughter and her good friend planned a lemonade stand during our town’s summer celebration. They were both abuzz with emails and phone calls, planning lists and organizing logistics.
