On the way home from Chicago last week, we enjoyed a Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Schaumburg, IL. It was an entertaining show — mostly on horseback — which included jousting and dressage with beautiful Andalusian horses. It fit in perfectly with our Medieval history studies.

Waiters and “wenches” in medieval attire served us a traditional feast which we ate without utensils (this was C’s favorite part.) The fare included tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, spare rib herb-based potato, pastry, garlic bread and soda. It was far more than any of us could eat. A true feast!

We watched as a drama unfolded amongst the knights, the king and princess. There was lots of sword-fighting, which continued after we returned home. That happens with 8-year-old boys.

It was loads of fun for our kids, as well as the partying college students that attended;)

Looks like a great time! We have been meaning to try this down in Dallas with some friends of ours. MUST DO!

I’ve been wanting to do this. Shucks, if your kiddos were a little younger, you should have swung up here and gone to the Curious Kids Museum! *wikn* We have a membership! LOL

I’ll bet the kids loved every moment! These are the things and times you’ll remember all your lives and be so grateful you took the time and energy to make them happen!
Hugs,
Holly

We’ve been to the one in Dallas and we really had a blast. Our youngest son loved the tournaments and fights, while our DD was chosen by the Green Knight as his “Queen of Love and Beauty.” lol The actors really seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Some friends told us about enjoying one of these in southern California. I could have handled that experience – especially eating without utensils. What a kick.
Then did they get to lick fingers… or did you make those kids use napkin???

Chili – it was a fantastic time. I highly recommend it, even though it’s pretty pricey.
Beth – wouldn’t it be fun to meet up with all your blogging buddies? Some year, I am totally going to BlogHer.
Holly – thank you – yes, I know I’ll remember them for sure – and cherish those memories. My mom says the kids won’t remember any of it. We’ll see…
Sherry – HOW FUN!!! That’s so cool your DD was picked!
Pamela – D was very civilized and used a napkin. I licked my fingers, then used the hot-nap. C, of course, wiped everything on his shirt — as usual;)

What a field trip…! May I please come to your school?

Last year my family went to the one neer D.C and it was great. We had a foreign exchange student who was never allowed to use his fingers for anything, even fries. It was a very interesting experience for him.
