If you’ve ever wondered about the direction youth are taking our world, I encourage you to check out the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards site. Each year, this organization recognizes young people that are making a difference in their communities.
Most of the more-than-300 honorees are older kids, but check out these examples:
Lindsey Jones, 10, of Gurley, Alabama, helped a local American Cancer Society chapter surpass it’s Relay for Life fundraising goal, by serving as the event’s Honorary Youth Chair. She collected more than $3,000 through her website.
James Kennedy, 12, of Indianapolis, writes and delivers speeches about his experience with cerebral palsy, and serves as a volunteer patient for therapy students.
Tayler McGillis, 12, of Toluca, IL – a home-schooled seventh-gader — established and maintains 15 permanent recycling centers throughout his community, and donated $9,000 from recycled aluminum to Habitat for Humanity.
Maybe our world isn’t going in such a bad direction after all?

What inspiring shares! I love reading about the good stuff and I know it’s out there. I hope such great things can be said of my kiddos as they grow!
Hugs,
