****Kids’ Guest Post****

Burglars Beware

There once was a fluffy old cat,
And a robber came by that was fat,
Pusscat purred with ease,
As she clawed at his knees,
His head hit the wall with a splat.

The man took a terrible fall,
When he tripped on a colorful ball,
The robber lay dead,
Tic tac toe on his head,
The cat won the game after all.

Mom’s note — Our lesson in limericks was lots of fun. The three of us brainstormed this poem. My role was mostly to remind them about rhythm and rhyme. The content was theirs — D mostly in the first stanza, C mostly in the second. Then they did a poetry reading for Grandma and her friend who came to visit.

Robin is poetic today too!
