Burglars Beware
There once was a fluffy old cat,
And a robber came by that was fat,
Pusscat purred with ease,
As she clawed at his knees,
His head hit the wall with a splat.
The man took a terrible fall,
When he tripped on a colorful ball,
The robber lay dead,
Tic tac toe on his head,
The cat won the game after all.
Mom’s note — Our lesson in limericks was lots of fun. The three of us brainstormed this poem. My role was mostly to remind them about rhythm and rhyme. The content was theirs — D mostly in the first stanza, C mostly in the second. Then they did a poetry reading for Grandma and her friend who came to visit.
Robin is poetic today too!

How awesome! Glad to have you swelling the ranks of outstanding homeschoolers! I don’t say that to make you doubt yourself, but to (I’m going to give you a little of your own medicine back!) empower you!
Homeschooling is not an easy road. And when you own your own business/do your own thing, it always seems like you’re pushing the envelope on what you can accomplish. But, the thing is, how empowering is it for our children when they FINALLY get it…. that THEY can run with what interests them and learning isn’t just about school hours and what somebody tells you you need to know for this year? Congratulations on your decision and good luck! My twins are in 6th grade and my son is driving me crazy because it’s just now dawning on him that learning is what you make of it! Having a 21 month old in the mix as well as teaching Kindermusik/owning my own business are just more experiences!
