The kids have been studying ancient Egypt and D was reading aloud about gods and goddesses.
D explained the goddess ISIS represented the perfect mother.
To which I teased, “Then I’m a goddess!”
To which D quipped, “And a myth.”
Hmpf.

I’m using this as a WFMW post this week. I’m also looking for feedback on Monday’s post.

I’ve told you before about how I encourage D to be my navigator on trips, but during our recent Florida vacation, I had two navigators.
And two map-readers, plus one map, equals one humungous backseat sibling squabble.
So I got two maps — free at a tourist information booth — and both kids navigated for me. D taught map-reading, while C practiced his directions. And they both helped me negotiate the busy traffic.
Cool, huh?

As my first manuscript deadline rapidly approaches, I’m acutely aware that I’m overscheduled. I’ve been getting by with shorter posts, photos and WordPress scheduled posting. I rely heavily on Bloglines to catch up on my favorite blogs, and I’ve almost stopped commenting entirely. The grandparents have helped out significantly in the past couple of weeks to take the kids for blocks of time and give me an opportunity to focus on my book.
But I need your help as well.

****C’s Guest Post****
(Mom’s note – I typed and significantly edited this second-grade “poem” for spelling, but the words and sentiment are all his.)
What’s great about Papa:
I ask for a scoop of ice cream and he gives me 3 1/2.
He goes fishing every day.
He has a big, warm ice shack.
I never leave the dinner table without being full.
He loves playing Uno with us.
He gives me lots of treats.
That’s what’s great about Papa.
