For Christmas, we finally succumbed to the wiles of DirecTV. We’d been living with stoneage reception for years, and finally got tired of watching what we affectionately called “The Man From Snowy River.”
So now that we have a gazillion channels with perfect reception, including multiple stations of cartoons and what look to be teenager soap operas, do you know what I caught my kids watching???
The Andy Griffith Show.
Yup, my kids have great taste.

PS – Tomorrow, I’m sharing some exciting (for me) news!!

Can you believe I’ve never watched a single episode of that show?

I still love Andy Griffith.
I loved Don Knotts, too.
D & C have good taste. Much better than alot of the junk on TV now.
(okay.. I watch Greys Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, Desperate Housewives. Just recently started watching Ugly Betty)

Be very glad “D” has not found the others, very glad…I can only speak for what my girls watch (no little guys in the home) but they are full fledged Disney Dancing Queens! LOL!

Ah that’s so great! We had DirecTV and went to cable with our new home and I miss it – the Tivo, channels, everything was better except the installation of wires running into my walls. My kids LOVE the Brady Bunch and Bewitched. I love that they love the good stuff! Hope to get to my PTT today!!

[...] This past weekend we went on a short trip to visit Grandma in Vegas. As we were loading the car my husband commented on how nice it was to have kids big enough to help with preparations and packing. It wasn’t that long ago that not only were we the only ones who could do it, but we had to pack bags the size of small U-Haul trailers to get everything needed for baby, not to mention all the accessories of bulky strollers, portable cribs, etc. Then we blinked, and suddenly we have a 9 year old and a 4 year old who have their own individual bags and packed their own “to do” bags of activities and toys for the trip. My husband, 26, loves the Andy Griffith show. He and Emily (my 5 year old) have been watching it since she was able to sit and cuddle with him on the couch. He has even Tivo’d those 48 hour Marathons they run on TV Land. I am glad for those cable networks, something still decent that I am not afraid to watch with my children, that we both can enjoy. I must say though, I do get a little irritated when He begins to recite the show before the line actually comes up.
Andy is good, but let Andy be Andy, K? HA!
