I know it’s hard to imagine, but you know the scrawny dock-jumper in my header?
He looked like this eight years ago today:

We knew he’d be big, and I’d made frustrating and unsuccessful attempts to induce and get a tax deduction on this mini-sumo-wrestler the week of Christmas, but it seems he was just as stubborn then as he is today.
Apparently he liked it in there more than his sister did – she came three weeks early two years before.
So on January 3, 1999, just two days after his due date, my water broke. I labored most of the day, and was so exhausted when another contraction came on, I remember specifically thinking,
“I’ll just skip this one.”
Nice try, Kelly.
Finally, after countless pushes (and later, stitches), we brought Craig into this world.
The nurses could hardly wait to get him on the scale – he was like a prized walleye.
11 pounds 2 ounces.
Now that’s a keeper.
Happy Birthday Craig!

After all that work, it would have been a shame to throw him back. He looks like the little bhubby mouse from Cinderella — Gus, yes thats the one.
Happy Birthday C. You have a wonderful day.
I’m not sure I can remember my eighth birthday. I got roller skates that clipped on to my shoes for one of those years. It had a little key that tightened the clips to the soles. I hung the key around my neck with a string. It was all very technical.
/////ps. Oh that one is funny — “I’ll just skip this one.”
I remember being very cranky at transition and saying to whoever was in the room “What the ###### do you think this is – a pleasure cruise!!!!////
HAHA! Too funny! Yeah, “pleasure cruise”, it certainly WASN’T!”

Happy Birthday C!!! 8 is such a special age, so enjoy EVERY minute of it
Thank you! (from C:))

OH! MY! GOODNESS! I LOVE fat roly, poly babies!! “Labor” is EXACTLY what you did to bring that kid into the world, Kelly! You should STILL be walking a little gingerly after giving birth to more than two bags of flour! I’m feeling your pain eight years AFTER the fact!
Okay, can you tell this makes me emotional???
Happiest of birthdays, C-boy!! You’re the coolest dock-jumper I don’t know
.
HAHAHA! Yeah, labor is right;)) It was a “big” day!

Holy moly, Kelly! I thought that was a picture of him like three months later! WOW!
Happy Birthday, mama and C!
Nuts, isn’t it? You can see the “Medela” poster on the wall behind him. So this pic was taken in the hospital.

Happy Birthday C – you share this day with my hubby.
That is one big boy, I was lucky with a little one myself. Well done to you for getting through that one
4:18 pm
They sure do grow up fast! Although at 11 pounds he was a big boy from birth! Don’t you still just wanna kiss ‘em and hold ‘em like they were little. Happy B-day!

Wow! LOL! Mini-Sumo wrestler is right, for 11 lbs. My ‘lil baby girl is only 20 lbs., and she’s almost a year old.
Happy Birthday C! Hope you had a great day!

Yer my hero!
Most of mine were over 9 and I thought I should get some kind of award for passing something that huge. But you take the cake, my friend.
He’s adorable! Don’t think I’ve ever seen cheeks quite like that.
4:17 am
Ouch! My girls were only 5 pounds! C is the size of both of them put together! You’re definitely Super Mom! Happy Birthday C!
12:47 pm
OMG! He went down the chute? My hat’s off to you Kelly!! All my 3 children were over 8 lbs and I already felt the stitches, I can’t imagine 11 lbs+.
Happy b-day Curt!! Check out those sumo-wrestler cheeks!!

Owwwwwwwwww!! Over here from CFL, though I thought I commented when I read this when you originally posted. I am starting to think I’m losing my mind. LOL I cannot imagine an 11 pounder. I bet the hospital still has his picture “mounted” on the wall!
11:27 pm
Yowsa! Now THAT’s a big baby! My little guy was born in June 1999; he was one ounce shy of 9 pounds and I thought THAT was big. Your son’s baby cheeks are too precious.
BTW, my son is every bit as thin as your son is now — go figure!

11 pounds, huh? Now really, how much harder was he to deliver than say an 8 pound baby. I mean, thats only 3 pounds more…thats like less than 25% heavier.
I am obviously just kidding, and being a man, haven’t the slightest idea how hard or painful it is regardless of weight.
Just trying to be funny. Didn’t work.
