I just watched (for the second time) the environmental documentary DVD by Al Gore — “An Inconvenient Truth.”
I’ll write a complete review soon, but all I can say now is this:
Rent it. Buy it. Watch it.
No matter which political direction you face, if you care about the world you’ll leave your children, watch this movie. The film is well directed, easily understood, and infinitely frightening, yet it educates about the solutions we already have within our grasp. “Global Warming” has become a neutral term in our society, but the issues it causes are real, scientifically-based, and have already begun to cause severe consequences on Earth.
Here’s the website for more information.
My favorite quote in the film?
An African proverb: “When you pray, move your feet.“

I couldn’t agree more. When I left the theater, I was torn between despair over what has already happened and hope at how we can fix it.
Thank you for stopping by. It is a shocking and motivating film, for sure.

From the website of Bjorn Lomborg, author of “The Skeptical Environmentalist”:
“Lomborg criticizes the way many environmental organizations make selective and misleading use of scientific data to influence decisions about the allocation of limited resources. ‘The Skeptical Environmentalist’ is a useful corrective to the more alarmist accounts favored by green activists and the media.”
Bjorn Lomborg: Named one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine
Named world’s 14th most influential intellectual by Foreign Policy and Prospect Magazine
Director of Denmark’s Environmental Institute
Lomborg’s scientific data backs up his claims that man is NOT destroying the earth and his research has earned him the persecution of the doomsday scientists, the likes of whom endorse Al Gore’s fantasy “An Inconvenient Truth”. Lomborg’s work steps on the toes of politicians who get their power from the wealthy and misguided environmental lobby.
It is best to research both sides of this debate on how the earth’s climate has changed througout history. Most of what we hear and see now is politically motivated and not based on scientific data. It is difficult with all the imagery and soundbites bombarding us these days, to hear both sides and make an evalutation. The easiest thing to do is to believe something that makes us feel a certain way, rather than search for the truth.
Sincerely, and in God’s Grace,
gracie
Thank you for your comment. I’ll certainly look into this book, but I think the evidence shared in the documentary is too important to ignore.

It should be in my mailbox when I get home.
GREAT!

I was just reading Amanda (Full Time Everything, Pamela’s daughter) and she has a post up about global warming; it reminded me about this post of yours, which I had yet to read all the way through.
You know, Kelly, how do we arrive at the TRUTH? I’m looking at Gracie’s comment, and I’m aware of Gore’s documentary, and Amanda cited a 20/20 special, and I wonder what is the truth? Most people…I guess I should correct that with ME…although educated, glaze over this subject, maybe because it’s so “world hunger”…just how do you solve it?
Then again, this is where I “am” today…I cannot solve world hunger, I cannot solve global warming, but I can make different choices, that through their ripple effect, will yield a positive result that hopefully will eventually touch others for good.
When I rent this, I’ll get back with ya.
