1. Offer to give your kid’s neat-freak friend a ride home.
2. Say nothing as your daughter is mortified by neat-freak friend saying, “Yuck” when she climbs into the back seat.
3. Own a handheld vacuum (i.e. Dustbuster type) that kids know how to use.
4. Listen with interest as kids organize plastic bags and handheld vacuum to take on our errands in the car the next day.
5. Smile in triumph as both kids detail the backseat while you drive, without one iota of adult intervention.
Works for me!!

That is terrific!! Funny and practical… that’s the kind of idea that I really enjoy! Thank you for sharing it!

Funny! Great tip!

LOL! Crafty!
I’m sure the kids had a blast doing it, too!

I’ll have to borrow someones kids. Mine are all grown with dirty cars of their own.
Did you know that kids will always do something for someone else before they’ll do it for their parents.
We remember our daughters helping the neighbors rake leaves when ours were piled high. it was fun over there.

Very clever!

Perfection right there! That is hilarious!

I can personally vouch for this working!
It’s amazing what a little “peer pressure”
can do!

I love it! I think it would work better if I had girls, though. Not many boys I know are neat-freaks.
10:29 am
But does that work with husbands?

LOL! I soooo can’t wait until my kids can and want to do this. :O)

That’s one of the reasons I visit the in-laws in NJ. My FIL is a neat freak, and I mean NEAT! There is never a bagful of trash in the house, he’d drive somewhere to dump it the same night. So, my van is always cleaned when we leave, b/c my FIL would clean the van inside out like it was new. Sadly, it only lasts about 5 days (if that) with 3 kids.

Am I crazy or did you post something very similar to this before???? Was it someone else? Are you plagiarizing now?? j/k, but I swannee, it’s a deja vu…!
Yes, I posted it one week ago, and then discovered Shannon wasn’t hosting WFMW last week. So I removed it right away.
Not soon enough for the earlybirds like you to miss it though!
3:21 pm
Oh, do you have to have the car’s back seat clean?

haha, great tip..I’ll have to remember it & try it out some time! =)

This cracked me up. If only you could see my backseat. It is SURE to elicit an yuck from someone soon. I am inspired to make my kids clean it out right now!
4:43 pm
Too funny! I like it! (One of my friends was horrified one time when her child’s “neat freak friend” got out of her car with Skittles stuck to the back of his shirt, LOL) Moral: If you’re lucky, some of the debris will stick to people as they exit the vehicle… Works for me!

Afterall, isn’t that why we had kids in the first place? To clean things that we don’t want to? LOL!

I’m not even sure if there is a back seat in my car. Between the two car seats and all the toys, I certainly don’t see any of the original seats.

I heard similiar things last night when oldest ds had to give a ride to youngest ds and the girl he likes, in my car. That back seat was never cleaned and sraightened so quickly!!!
I see no reason to have to clean it myself – I don’t sit back there and I don’t throw my trash back there.

I’m packing the Dustbuster in my diaper bag next time I leave the house. Awesome tip.
