They did an amazing job! I can see that they must have had a lot of fun putting it all together! My daughter did a quick map, it was only 8×11, this year in her Social Studies class of the route we use to take her to school. Knowing the streets and directions, landmarks, and compass rose. She would have really liked to paint and make a bigger map! You know, I would have had some fun helping her, so I imagine you had some fun too, which is good that you all had FUN, and learned at the same time!

Thanks Christine! We really did have a lot of fun doing this. I’m finding that with a lot of our activities. I’m enjoying them as much as they are…

I made one of these for my son years ago and it has been well-loved. I made mine to look like our neighborhood: church, apartment building, school, grandma’s house, McDonald’s, all the places he loved.

It was really neat putting it together. We talked all about the important parts of the community too. Notice the lake and 4-wheeler trail were very important features;)

You and your students are amazing.
That old pick up truck reminds me of one (stick shift on the steering column) that I drove when I was a teenager. Oh yea… I popped the clutch a few times – cuz it was a long way to the floorboard.

Once you figure out diggs and plug ins and all that techi stuff you can teach that – homeschool some of us dimwit bloggers!

Oh, Pamela, what would I do without you? You’re a sweetie. My mom bought an old truck like that for me to learn to drive, but the neighbor totalled it before I turned 16. I always thought that would have been a pretty cool vehicle. And the VW rabbit with a stick that I learned on wasn’t any easier;)
