…go shopping.
We worked through C’s boycott on writing, as well as the nuclear war with fourth grade mental math, before our spending spree (Christmas, crafts, books). So with any luck, we’ll be ready to tackle our schoolwork without leaving the house for a while.
Good thing. I spent $400 today. Gulp.
I really can’t afford more of these study breaks.

Boycott on writing? Sounds like a typical boy to me. Writing Strands has almost eradicated the weeping and gnashing of teeth, but we still have little flareups once in a blue moon.

Leslie – can you tell me more about Writing Strands? It sounds like something I need to invest in!!
Thank you both for your support on this! Yesterday was a rough day (at least until we gave up;))

That was an expensive break
Writing is a tough one. We are still working on that one too!

Writing Strands is a kid-friendly writing curriculum. It kept me from killing my son
Or worse– sending him back to public school LOL.
It starts off very simple and progresses, teaching them to vary their sentence structure and add descriptive words to make their writing more interesting. Best of all, level 3 says things like “Now tell your parents you can take a week off from writing” and other winsome things that the kids love.
I can’t remember how old your son is– 7? I would probably start with Level 2– that is what I am using with my 8 year old.

You can look at a sample lesson.
Hope that helps~!

Also–Just know that we all have days like that. You can’t spend $400 every time you have a day like that, but once in a while it’s great to chuck the books and have a low key day.
Chuck E Cheese might be a less expensive alternative.
