…we shine deer.
And we did so last night. High-powered flashlight, slow-moving vehicle, and wide-eyed kids giddy on Mountain Dew, awake past bedtime — counting 39 whitetail in the fields.
“Oh, that was a big one!” Wayne said as he stopped the car and put it in reverse.
“Where? Where?” they scanned the spotlighted ditch.
“That’s a reflector on a post, Dad.”

Later, Wayne spied a buck following way behind a doe. He informed us, “His head’s down, he smells the doe and he’s following her trail, trying to find her. He’s in rut.”
“Well she’s right there — why don’t you you just shine the light on her so he can find her?”

A one eyed buck… giggle (the reflector)
We never see deer here in town, but we went for a ride up into the blue’s today and there was a homemade sign someone put up that was really scribbly and it said ‘deer …. E V E R Y W H E R E ! !’
We were to early in the day. HOWEVER – last 4th of July we saw a MOOSE eating the little saplings at the nursery just on the edge of town. NO CAMERA. Rare rare sighting of moose around here.
My real quest is to get a picture of SASQUATCH. ;D

Too funny, Pamela. I forgot my camera too (Deena remembered her’s and took a picture of some of the deer, but it didn’t turn out.)
It only figures that when I pass a falling-down barn, that will never make it through a winter’s snowload, with a perfect sunset behind it? Forgot my camera…

That’s too funny. I just love the things kids say and do (and adults too, Wayne).
