Gizmos part II. Yesterday I told you about the nifty comment auto-links I have on this site. Today, I’ll introduce you to my feeds.
Basically a feed is a constant retrieval of new content from a site. This little orange thing I keep on my sidebar
is a “chicklet” and when you click on it, you have a bazillion different options for getting “fed”. Each has a standard set-up, but once you’re subscribed, subsequent subscriptions are done (literally) with 2 clicks (okay, I just checked - it’s four.)
I use Bloglines
(also on the sidebar). Every day, I just click on my Bloglines account and effortlessly check upwards of 70 blogs per day, with minimal clicks. And when I find a new blog I like, I have a “sub to bloglines” shortcut in my browser favorites. Easy. Quick. Minimal Clicks. My kind of system.
At the bottom of my sidebar I also offer an email subscription service. This is a feed emailed to you daily, rather than one you need to visit. Different strokes for different folks!
So make your life easier. And make me smile. Click it! What’s your favorite feed?

Okay.. I’m going to really look into that. I have my favorites and that would simplify everything.
Your comment section didn’t remember me…
Will wordpress not remember blogger info ???
(I’m late for work again. Maybe I’ll get the boot.. ha ha)

Hmmmm, I’m wondering if you were using IE before and now you switched to Firefox?? Maybe your cookies were enabled in IE, but you’d never used Firefox yet on this site?? I’l love to hear an update on this from you. I think it’s a cookies issue, which would be on your browser? But I’m no expert on this.
I’d love to hear from others also. If something’s messed up on my site, I’d like to fix it for you.

Aww the joys of browsers. I was a Firefox user until I tried the new IE 7 beta. Now I’m shamelessly hooked on all the new IE upgrades. It’s like they finally listened to what we all need.
I’m still playing with the right tools for me on feeds, but I love the concept! Thanks for sharing your tips!

Thanks for helping everyone with this. Great ideas and would make life simplier.
Thanks for the post. I will survive the sprained ankle, but it is a real pain in the butt! Worse part is missing my trip to visit my sister.

I love Bloglines. What a great idea to blog about it. I’ve had a subscription button up for awhile, but never said anything about it. I know this would really come in handy for my family, if I would just tell them. So I did! Thanks for the idea.

I’m feeling very techie today. I’m really glad I imparted some wisdom! Pamela, glad you found Bloglines;) Makes life a whole lot easier, hey??

lol, you SOUND very techie :). I have to read and then re-read this stuff because blogging definitely has its own language! I’m learning bit by bit, but for some reason it seems to take so long for me to “get it”. I PROMISE, I used to be BRILLIANT and then I had kids and they sucked my brains out (that’s my story & I’m stickin’ with it). Thanks for sharing what you know with those of us who are still somewhat blogging neophytes ;).

[…] This week, I’ll be celebrating — Husband. And I invite you to celebrate with me, and to GUESS HIS NAME. I’ll be offering a prize to the reader that comments first with the correct name. So get thinking! Also, I’ll post clues throughout the week in archived posts. If you’re subscribed to my feed, those “clue” posts will pop up in your feed reader. (*hint, hint*) […]

[…] And then, of course, there’s blogging. I know it will take a hit, and I’ll rely heavily on Bloglines to keep up with all of you. (You should be doing this, too, if you’re not already.) But I see YOU very much as my support, so I’ll continue with my own posts as much as possible. I’m using Pass the Torch as my own accountability. I hope to publish my basic lesson plan for each week, as well as some kind of evaluation. These may be short, but will go a long way toward my ducks staying in a row. […]
