Today we worked quickly in the morning. I made a mobile of the three branches of government, and then we left for a field trip. We were going to the courthouse. We looked around and a judge actually gave us a tour. (!!!) Then I had piano lessons in a cozy lady’s cottage. We had lunch at dad’s office. My favorite thing about today was the courthouse.

Was the lady cozy or was it her cottage? hee hee? her cottage;)
Did the judge wear a robe and carry a gavel. No, but there was a gavel on her desk.
My youngest daughter is studying to be a court recorder. She will be the person who sits in the court and types everything on a little machine. She has to be able to type pretty much error free 225 words per minute. She is stuck between 160 and 180 right now. Oh that’s cool! They sit in front of the judge in the courtroom we visitied. I never knew that.
I took piano lessons from a cozy lady - and she always told me I needed to polish my shoes. Her house was spotless. I bet my fingernails were dirty, too. Hahahaha. She told me I had to cut my fingernails .
Thanks for reading my journal!

Deena describes the experience in her journal, Tales of a 4th Grade Guinea Pig. Deena read aloud to us: Duck for President (Thanks Meredith) and Amelia Bedelia 4 Mayor (thanks Leslie), which were perfect a fit for our studies and loads of fun. […]
